Description: Georgia is largely hailed as the birthplace of wine and the winemaking techniques have remained largely unchanged for millennia. Coming from a single vineyard in the renowned Kakheti region, this wine is a blend of 70% Rkatsiteli and 30% Mtsvane. Grapes are hand harvested and macerated on the skins for an extended time in qveri; large clay amphora that are buried underground to control temperature. The result is a deep amber colored wine with rich honeyed notes of almond and apricot, quince, and white flowers. It pours a medium body with a nice splash of acidity, and the tannins are more textural than drying; adding a silkiness to the finish. Despite the rustic production method, the wine drinks clean as a whistle. I'm drinking a bottle on day 3 and it still shows strong.
