FAQs
What do you mean by “pay what you can”?
We are a cafe that believes in mutual aid — the idea and practice that allows for a community to support one another through action, cooperation, solidarity, and trust.
We believe what we create within Parable should be accessible to everyone in our community. If you are without the means, or funds for coffee today, please ask for us to put your coffee on our community card. If you have the means to support this practice, we encourage you to ask about contributing to our community card.
When do you sell out of pastries?
Pastries are prepared and baked between 8am - 9am. Once made, they sell throughout the day — we cannot provide an exact sellout time. We suggest if you want a full selection of pasties, you come around opening time (9am) — especially on weekends.
I can’t find a place to sit, what do I do?
As it is open seating, we cannot guarantee seats. There is lots of standing room you are welcome to, as long as it’s not a hindrance to our employees serving you. Kindly ask to share a table if there are no other seats! On busy nights, like Jazz Night on Sundays, we recommend you come early and stay late!
Where do I park?
We offer 1-hour parking validation for the Columbus Commons Main Garage (55 E. Rich St.), it is a short walk through the Commons to get to our cafe! Please bring your ticket in with you and ask a barista/bartender for a validation ticket.
Street parking is always an option, but keep an eye out for time restrictions, special events, and payment!
I want to plan an event at Parable, how do I do that?
Please head over to our events form and tell us a little bit about what you're planning! Someone will reach out to you shortly to discuss more information. (Please do not DM us to plan your event)
Do you allow outside food into the cafe?
Because we prepare our own food in-house, Ohio Law does not permit bringing in food and liquor from other restaurants.
