Description: Austria’s winemaking reputation took a disastrous hit in 1985 when it was uncovered that several large producers were adulterating their wines with a toxic chemical. It began to recover largely due to 5 winemaking couples who sought to return to making traditionally styled, low intervention wines from sustainable fruit, the Musters among them. 40 year old chardonnay vines from rocky clay and limestone soils are hand harvested, destemmed, gently pressed and aged 2 years in used oak. Pear and quince dominate with tightrope acidity and a nice, slightly smoky, salty finish.
