Description: FUSO is a project from natural importer PortoVino, focused on working with organic farmers and producers to deliver affordable wines made sustainably and with a hands off approach. The Cala here is coming from 20 year old Catarratto Extra Lucido (extra shiny Catarratto) vines at 400 m elevation on clay and red sand just outside of the capital Palermo in NW Sicily. Grapes are harvested in August to maintain acidity in Sicily's extremely warm climate. The wine spends about 2 days on the skins before finishing in stainless steel. Peach, apricot, melon, potpourri and sandalwood are all showing here, with a nice salty finish. Extremely approachable and affordable orange wine that will appeal to veterans or those just dipping their toes into the style.
