Description: The Loi family has been farming and making wine in this mountainous and sparse region of southeast Sardinia for 4 generations, and the techniques in the vineyard and the cellar have not changed much since then. Everything is dry farmed, no chemical fertilizers or pesticides are used, wines are fermented natively in concrete with little fuss. Monica is one of the lesser known native varietals on the island and checks off everything I like about a light, chillable red. Earthy with plenty of red flowers and savory herbs that sit on top of berry fruits. While light and crunchy on the palate, this isn't some simple glou glou patio pounder. There's a surprising amount of depth to this one.
