Description: When I was but a young wine dork barely old enough to drink, I was introduced to the obscure DOC of Lacryma Christi del Vesuvio, a region of Mt Vesuvius whose history dates back to the 5th century and whose name translates to "the tears of Christ". This was a wine that changed the way I perceived wine and was my introduction to volcanic wines that still have a hold on my heart to this day. Imagine my surprise when I came across a "natty" example of this already obtuse region. Baccanti's example retains all the classic rustic, intense, spice and volcanic mineral intensity of it's more traditionally made brethren, but with more breathing room, lower alcohol, and fresh acidity. A delicious anomaly caught between modernity and antiquity.
