Description: Akutain has been around since 1975, making classically styled tempranillo in their tiny estate in Rioja Alta. The cosecha, their youngest offering, comes from a single vineyard from 35 year old vines. Unlike most Rioja, this wine is fermented and aged in fiberglass vats, eschewing the heavy handed oak treatments that the region is known for. Bright high toned red fruit and firm but integrated tannins linger with spice and earth. Unreal single vineyard estate Rioja here.
